The Vistula Spit ditch

The Vistula Spit ditch is a new waterway that will connect the Vistula Lagoon with the Bay of Gdańsk. In order for the traffic of ships not to restrict car traffic too much, it is necessary to build, among others, navigation canal with a lock, swing bridges and a harbor Master's Office.

The investment "Construction of a waterway connecting the Vistula Spit dtch with the Bay of Gdańsk - part I" includes the construction of a protective port from the Gulf of Gdańsk, construction of a navigation canal with a lock and construction of closures along with waiting stands from the Gulf of Gdańsk and the Vistula Lagoon, a new road system with steel movable bridges with a vertical axis of rotation, which will enable passage over the canal in front of and behind the lock; construction of an artificial island located in the Vistula Spit ditch. The shipping channel is to be 1.3 km long and 5 meters deep. Ultimately, after the next stages of the investment, it is to allow vessels with a draft of 4-4.5 m, length up to 100 meters and up to 20 meters to enter the port in Elbląg. The construction of the canal on the Vistula Spit is to be completed in 2022.

Minerals DC Nowak is the main supplier of aggregates for Bosta-Beton Sp. z o.o. (CRH Group) which is responsible for the production of concrete mixes. So far, deliveries of nearly 120,000.00 tons of materials have been completed, including fine aggregate with a grain size of 0-2 mm - approx. 50,000 tons, coarse aggregate with a grain size of 2-8 mm - approx. 35,000 tons and 8-16 mm - 35,000 tons.
