M\/S Amanda arrived from the Swedish port of Flikvik with a cargo of over 1,600 tons of stone, which will be used to build breakwaters at the shipping canal. Transport of armor stone by sea will relieve local roads on the Spit.<br \/>\nThe general contractor is the Polish-Belgian consortium NDI \/ Besix, which also constructed the deepwater DCT 2 quay in the Northern Port in Gda\u0144sk. The investor is the Maritime Office in Gdynia, and the supervision is carried out by SWECO. The first stage of the construction of the Shipping Channel across the Vistula Spit began in October 2019. Construction is halfway through and on schedule. It is expected to end in mid-2022.<br \/>\nThe NDI \/ Besix consortium, which is building a shipping canal across the Vistula Spit, wants to transport by sea at least 100,000 tons of armor stone, i.e. about 50 ships, . It was not provided for in the project, but thanks to its creation, the transport of key material and diversified deliveries were improved. The quay has been specially prepared for this purpose. This road can also be used to transport material to the artificial island that is being built on the other side of the channel.
